So, warm up your razor & recruit your friends, acquaintances, and admirers, it’s Mustache season!
Our first checkpoint meeting and official “clean shave day” is Tuesday, November 8. Bring your clean faces on down to Cassanova Bar at 16th and Valencia starting at 7:30 pm. Representatives from M4K will be there to greet you with open arms and frosted mugs.

Mustaches for Kids San Francisco is back for another hil-hair-ious season of charitable stubble pumping. That’s right – beginning in late fall we’ll be banging the drum and casting aside the razor while doing everything we can to raise as much money as possible for the public schools affiliated with DonorsChoose.org.
If you or someone you know and love has ever wondered what it’s like to grow a mustache – and ever followed-up that wonder with a, “could my mustache do something good for children who desperately need educational resources?”… Well, this is the easiest, most bromantic, funny-yet-somehow-still-moving event you will ever be a part of.
Our growing season officially starts the second week of November. And our ‘Stache Bash will be going down on December 14 at The Rickshaw Stop. For now, though, take a spin around the site, and then if you’d like to make yourself a grower click here!

Lots of ‘Stache-Cite-Ment
The rain has retreated and the ice beckons! Join us tonight for our annual Mustaches on Ice pageant of grace and stache-power, as our folliculled faces circle the Union Square Ice Rink. Skating starts at 8pm, and the growers will be there warming up starting around 7:45pm.
Also, tonight we’ll be on Comcast’s Hometown Network (that’s Channel 104) at 6:30pm and 10pm talking about Mustaches for Kids San Francisco on their “Upside” local news show. It’s a five minute interview and should be great publicity for the cause.
And remember, it’s only one week until the ‘Stache Bash. So now is the time to start that strong final fundraising push! And make sure to invite all your local friends to the final event!

That’s right folks. The Mustache is the mark of a true Gentleman. Even Gentlemen’s Quarterly says so…And they should know so, because they’re gentlemen. (At least quarterly.)

A few years ago advertising agency TBWA Singapore developed a great campaign for Movember called “moustaches make the difference.” This funny and simple (and if you ask us HONEST) campaign featured before and after shots of some of the most legendary bearers of the ‘stache — icons whose mustaches helped transform them from zeroes to heroes.

Pour A Little Out for Mean Gene
Yesterday, one of the hairiest and most critical ‘staches in the game bowed out. Movie critic Gene Shalit retired from The Today Show after more than forty years of bad puns, questionable reviews, and incredible follicular ferocity. Siskel and Ebert may have had their thumbs, but no one came close to matching this icon’s whiskers. Take care, Gene. It sure has been “a thrill ride.”

Mustaches for Kids, SF (M4KSF) is back, and this year is gonna be harrier, merrier, and hopefully dollar-ier than ever! Okay, okay, bad rhyme, but still our mustaches are well-rested, and it’s time to harness their awesome power. Last season we raised OVER $90,000 for low-income classrooms in San Francisco and beyond! And 2010 is gonna be even bigger and bushier.
For the third consecutive year, M4KSF will be benefitting donorschoose.org a revolutionary educational charity that empowers teachers in underfunded schools to choose projects in their classrooms for donors to fund directly. Growers will be choosing the projects that speak most to them — and they’ll be hearing directly from the kids who will benefit from them directly.
