New Growers
Are You Growing With Us For The First Time? Awesome. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Tell us you’re growing here and move on to step 2.
2. Go to http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/createChallenge.html and select Mustaches for Kids.
3. Select the box that says “I am here to support classrooms in need,” so that you can set up a Giving Page.
4. Fill out your contact information (which DonorsChoose.org will only use to mail you student thank-you notes, if you fund a classroom project. Mustaches For Kids will use your contact info for M4K communication)
Part 1 – Your Information
- Create the title of your Giving Page. Make sure your real name is in your title.
- A message to your friends, family and co-workers is auto-populated. If you have time to create your own personalized message, we highly encourage it!
- Select San Francisco in the “Join a Giving Group” menu.
Part 2 – Your Photo. Also, click “Add” to add a picture of you, with or without a ‘stache! It will help.
Part 3 – Your Projects. Select State = California (North). Right before M4K kicks off, DonorsChoose.org will automatically fill your page with projects from San Francisco.
Part 4 – Your Facebook. We highly recommend connecting to the ‘Book.That way, every time a friend/family member donates to your ‘stache page, you will shout them out on your Facebook wall.
Click “Proceed to Share your Giving Page,” and then click “see” your Giving Page.
Bookmark your UNIQUE LINK to your Giving Page. This is the link you should use every time you ask people to donate for your Mustache
*** Please note that the first “checkpoint” meet-up for all growers will take place on Thursday, November 8th, at 7:30pm at the Cassanova Lounge, 527 Valencia (btw 16th and 17th streets). We want you to come! If you want to grow with us but cannot make the first checkpoint meet-up, please write to us at grow@m4ksf.org, so that we know you will be competing. Thank you.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR DONORS to donorschoose.org. It’s a big site, and they’ll have a hard time finding you and your grower profile.
Returning Growers
If you already have a DonorsChoose account you’ll need to associate it with our 2011 Growing Season. It’s easy:
1. Tell us you’re growing (again?) here and move on to step 2.
2. Go to DonorsChoose.org and click “My Account” in the upper right corner.
3. Select “My Account” and log-in.
4. Scroll down and click “Create a Giving Page” (you may want to take this opportunity to de-activate last year’s Mustaches For Kids Page by unchecking the box – although it will still exist on last year’s leaderboard!). Select “Mustaches For Kids” and fill out the nessesary info
